Is every Lake Murray home on the water?

Are there alligators in Lake Murray?
Sightings are rare. Lake Murray sits at the northern edge of where American alligators live, and there's no record of a predatory incident with a swimmer.
Why does the water level change?
Lake Murray is a working reservoir run by Dominion Energy. It holds around 357-358 feet in summer and drops a few feet in fall and winter. Every three to five years, it's lowered further for maintenance. Read the full water level guide.
